……..at the cabina…….

…….arrived on  Monday in Tronadora with my friend Jon for a two week stint. Great weather so far, orienting him to the village and environs. Today we are hiking the Rio Celeste near Tenorio. Lots of birds in the back yard this morning. Met with Alexis yesterday, and planned out a barbeque grill for the fireplace. Should be cooking fish soon. A few new houses in the area this time around, looks like the economy  may be on the upswing…….

Post Holiday thoughts

…..another year gone by, 2013 here now. Had a GREAT holiday season with family and friends. New Years spent at the Legion in Port.  Going to the Florida Keys in January for a time. Never been there, me or Mo. Should be fun. Cold outside now, with a very little ice in the harbour. Driving to Detroit tonight, and Toronto on the weekend. Keeping busy.

Just another small expense….

The muffler fell off the old truck the other day…….surprisingly NOT noisy. What else would I have spent that money on? 🙂 It has been really warm the last few days. Still finishing the bathtub in prep for the remodel which is scheduled for January-February. It will be a totally new space, and afterward we should be slowing down on the renovating front for sure. The Moore Water Gardens Christmas party is coming up at the Port Stanley Legion. Should be fun….

Santa’s coming

…..on Friday night in Port. Jon Caughlin is a judge for the village’s Christmas lights and then out to the Legion for a beer and some fun with Mo and Vicci.
Kinda overcast today……gotta drive to Toronto on Saturday with RobertQ.
Getting Christmas presents compiled slowly. Got a couple of hits on Kijiji for the cabina……slow but steady I hope.
Watched a show about fishing for channel cats that was filmed in a port east of here. Looks like fun as they can get to over 30 lbs and give a great fight. I think I will gear up for that in the spring. Do a bit of banking today and organize the tools in the work area. Doesn’t get any more exciting than that! 🙂

December looming………

…..and Christmas is coming. The harbour has the Christmas lights up, and many homes in the village as well. Met my friends Skow and Bill Chowen at Chapters the other day. I miss the old days when we went for beers after work. Health and life problems seem to get in the way. Mo is in the states for the weekend shopping in Pennsylvania with her friends. Crowds of ambulatory credit cards!
I am beginning a campaign to promote the casita in Costa Rica by means of kijiji.ca, Craigslist.com, and business cards for gall.ca
Like to get the place rented in the winter, or at least occupied….by people interested in what Costa Rica has to offer.
Got a short length cast iron bathtub for the lower bathroom, just gotta refurb it and do the install….
Amanda is busy with her design stuff in Toronto, living the life…..
Dreaing about a tug boat for next year. rangertugs.com
21 ft, red hull…….
I am in a lull on the Reno front, nothing for December, both bathrooms scheduled for January or February.
Lookin at the new Honda 700cc m/c as well…..
My father has been diagnosed with a terminal illness, and has the horizon ahead of him. Not an enjoyable journey for me and causing me some deep thought.
Anyway, more to come……and enough for now.
